Cut Scenes from Say Nothing
A Note From the Author
Say Nothing has been one of my absolute favorite books to work on over the years. I’m hopelessly in love with the characters, and their stories collectively and individually. As much as it pained me, there were so many pieces cut from the book. I didn’t believe it would do the story any favors to have multiple books, so I decided to add lots of cut scenes to my website for everyone to enjoy. And because these are cut scenes, of course, this page is going to contain lots of spoilers! ~ Happy Reading Friends!
This scene takes place after Ryan finds Bex down by the beach, when he’s at the hotel with her, and their conversation had there. After he convinces her to start taking what’s being offered for the sake of bettering her life, it skips to a little piece at the end of Bex and Grey’s date from her perspective, and her thoughts about the day. It was cut because it was a little too telling of what was going on before the storyline was really ready for it. There was also the fact that it would either move the timeline forward or backward depending on how the Chapters were arranged because Grey’s side of things was too important not to tell.
This Scene takes place after Grey Proposes. Bexley knows she needs to start making better preparations if she wants to stay in her life with Grey. She uses connections she’s already made to make a few more new ones because even if she can’t survive, she needs to make sure everyone else around her does. I cut this because Bex doesn’t really like to share everything she does to protect herself and others. She’s also not proud of the information she had to hand over to make it happen. Yes, I realize she lives in my head and isn’t a real person, but I still do my best to remain true to my characters and what they would or wouldn’t share.
In this scene, Ryan and Bex get their tattoos together, but there’s a little backstory with it. If you haven’t read the cut scenes listed above, the tattoo won’t make a lot of sense. It means a lot to both of them, so in true Ryan and Nelson fashion, they don’t really state the reason for what it is. This could’ve gone into the book and might’ve showed a better perspective of Cynthia, but I felt like it wasn’t strong enough to stay.
This was a scene I cut out because a lot of it felt redundant in a way. Bex and Ben already share a lot of details about her family, she already talks about Toby’s uncle’s house, and it’s already known that Toby is different than anyone who ever came into that house. It was supposed to be put in before the funeral scene in the book, but I felt like that took away the real power of that Chapter.
